I have chosen to take a big step with this page and make it a bit more personal. One reason for this decision is the simple fact that I cannot share this story I have today without that extra step of personal. For a long time, I have focused very heavily on branding the image of what I want Plushie Babies to represent but I never really thought of showcasing the mind behind the brand. For the fans of the super informational content don’t worry it isn’t going anywhere, just know that if you want a little wrap of why I made every fresh batch of posts, you can also get that too.
So enough about me and more about Remote Jobs. Sadly, for me to explain its importance in my life I need to talk about me a little more. I am a single Mom of two girls, and I wouldn’t change my world for a second, but I’ve had to learn some tough lessons in life. One of those lessons is how important it is to establish your own income if you have kids. Those times of emergency could come at any second and you always want to be able to adjust and adapt in tough times, and if you have time to prepare don’t neglect it. Another tough lesson I had to learn is that CREDIT CARDS SHOULD NOT BE SEEN AS AN EMERGENCY FUND. I hope the right person see’s this because there is a lot of stories being left out in this part of my explanation. Even if it’s a few dollars a week, put it in a fund specifically dedicated to emergencies. Buying bitcoin instead of Starbucks got me through some tough times. It is seriously just a mindset change because anyone can build an emergency fund regardless of how much you make. There are surveys on banking apps now and Etsy SEO people, my point is just always trying to build the fund, the amount isn’t the concern, it’s about having the awareness from as soon as possible. My personal advice is to get into investing responsibly, you can buy a thing called Index funds which is one stock that is made up of a collection the top companies in a certain area. I am not here to give financial advice; my point is that you have options, and you should take the time to figure out what works best for you. I only have my story and what worked to get this message into my head, but long story short set the money aside for an emergency in whatever way you can manage.
Now let’s get to the work from home part, I was in a position where I had not prepared for an emergency, and one tested me like I have never been tested before. I was in a dire situation and really depended on my ability to generate income so that I could get out of the hole I found myself in. I used to work in business management back in school so I had a decent number of skills to leverage but as you may know, the work force is very competitive especially in entry level fields and even more for something like remote work. None the less I was desperate and more than ready to compete, I spend days and nights applying to jobs on different websites for weeks. It was important for me to still be around my kids, so I didn’t look for much else outside of remote work, and honestly, I believe that focus was important. After about 2 weeks and a load of “Unfortunately” emails I finally had my first real work from home company interview. I remember it like it was yesterday, Allstate had a position open for a sort of sales representative, so I didn’t directly sell to people, but I would delegate the process. Long story short I got this dream job and slowly climbed from my emergency hole.
Once I started getting consistent income while also being able to fully tend to my children (at the sacrifice of my mental health of course), I started making some life changing decisions. For one, I put about 5%-15% of every check I earned directly into the S&P 500, which is an index fund like I mentioned earlier. That one decision alone made the worry of an emergency fund disappear like magic. I still do this but now I just look at it as a part of my normal investment strategy. Now I do my best to implement habits in my life that will give me a lot more of a financial cushion. My newest habit has been making all the risky financial decisions when I have a desire to spend money on something I know I don’t need. If I can make a coffee at home but I want Starbucks, I won’t lie sometimes I’ll get the Starbucks, but other days will use the money and do something like buy a few stocks that are under a dollar or even just throw that $5 into bitcoin or Ethereum and call it a day. This is a good way to diversify your earning potential.
So now that you see how much work from home jobs have changed my life, let me get to the most important part of all of this. Getting a work from home job is not a fun process, I’m assuming you know that if you are here. I’ve tried many different methods and websites and I’m here to show you what worked for me. For one, you must utilize linked in no question. You have easy apply, your resume in imbedded in the process, and you can directly contact important people in the process. The jobs that get listed on linked in will be more than you can even apply to all in a single day so don’t think you are missing out by focusing so heavily on one website. Secondly, use your resume to SEPARATE yourself any way you possibly can. This could mean a lot of different things for a lot of different people, but just make sure you are the best advocate for yourself you can be. And finally, persistence is key, you have to be able to push through the application process in order to find the job meant for you. This is a lot easier said then done so don’t be afraid to ask for help, the Plushie Babies Facebook Group is a great place to ask questions and offer advice when it feels like what you are doing isn’t working.
And for those that want to optimize the process and simply get the best jobs directly sourced from linked in served on a silver platter every say, we now have the Plushie Babies Work From Home Remote Job Directory. I want to offer a resource that would have helped me a lot during my early years as a mom. We have linked in posts filtered specifically for jobs that a mom can not only realistically justify handling, but also realistically be able to do the work in general. After the Covid-19 Pandemic, remote work has saturated the market, and you need to work very hard just to find a job you can achieve. Now I want to provide a resource that makes this process seamless so that all you have to worry about is the application rather than finding it. The resource should be on the main menu tab but if you do not see it I will simply provide a link here. I hope you get as much as you can from this initiative and I would love to share future testimonies so don’t be afraid to contact us!
